Preview: Coventry City vs Swansea City,English football Championship,Gameweek 6

Soccer News 2024/09/20 11:52

With just five points from five games, Mark Robins will be disappointed with Coventry's start to the season.

However, both of their defeats have come by a single goal, with the problems coming in attack rather than at the back.

The only time Coventry have conceded more than once in a Championship match this season was in a 3-2 victory, but since then they have conceded just four goals in five games in all competitions.

Returning from the international break with a 1-1 draw at Watford was seen as a positive result, but Robins may have his work cut out to lift his players after Wednesday night's frustration.

Coventry were 1-0 up against Tottenham Hotspur in the 87th minute of their EFL Cup third-round tie, only for their Premier League opponents to stage a remarkable late comeback.

As for Swansea, Luke Williams would have hoped for a better start to the season than his side have delivered, going three games without a win in all competitions.

However, a 1-0 win over Norwich City last time out has catapulted the Swans up to 11th in the table and they also boast one of the best defensive records in the division.

Only three goals have been conceded in five outings, and Swansea have yet to concede more than once in any of their seven games in all competitions in 2024-25.

On the negative side of the ledger, just two goals have been scored in their last four matches, both of which came in the opening 10 minutes of different games and one of which was an own goal.

Coventry City possible starting lineup:

Dovin; Van Ewijk, Latibeaudiere, Thomas, Kitching, Dasilva; Eccles, Rudoni, Torp; Simms, Wright

Swansea City possible starting lineup:

Vigouroux; Key, Cabango, Darling, Naughton; Ronald, Franco, Grimes, Eom; Cooper; Cullen

Prediction:Coventry City 2-1 Swansea City
