On September 21, in the sixth round of La Liga, Osasuna defeated Las Palmas 2:1. Budimir scored a penalty kick, A. Moleiro equalized the score, and A. Oroz gave Osasuna the lead again. The game ended with Osasuna's victory.
Las Palmas started the match better than Osasuna. The vertical and fast football of the Canaries allowed them to dangerously reach Sergio Herrera's area. The mobility of Fábio Silva, Moleiro and Sandro made things very difficult for the Navarrese defence. It was precisely Sandro who was in charge of giving the first warning, with a great individual play that Torró stopped by clearing to a corner.
Moleiro was then left one-on-one with Sergio Herrera after a precise cross from Darío Essugo which the Osasuna goalkeeper saved with a great save. It was the 18th minute. Two minutes later Sergio Herrera again thwarted a great Canarian chance by throwing himself at Kirian's feet. Las Palmas was close to scoring, while Osasuna only threatened Cillessen from set pieces, always with Rubén García as the protagonist in this type of situation.
Boyomo managed to score from a free kick, but his goal was disallowed because the ball had hit the Osasuna centre-back's hand.
The Navarrese took advantage of the following minutes of confusion for Las Palmas. Herzog was close to scoring an own goal and in the 35th minute Mika Marmol committed a clear penalty on Budimir, which the Croatian striker was responsible for converting. In that action Mármol was injured and had to be substituted. The joy was short-lived for the Navarrese team, as Moleiro equalised two minutes later. Before the break, full-back Marvin had to leave the pitch with muscle problems. A double setback for Luis Carrión, who was left with only one substitution window for the second half.
After the restart, the Canaries took control of the match, led by Fábio Silva and Moleiro, who were undetectable by the local defenders. Fábio scored, but the goal was ruled out for offside. Las Palmas easily reached Sergio Herrera's area and it seemed that 1-2 was just a matter of time. However, the match took an unexpected turn. When Osasuna was having the worst time, a loss by Las Palmas allowed Rubén García to show off his magic with an exquisite pass to Aimar, who transformed the youth player into 2-1 with a low cross shot that Cillessen could not stop.
After Aimar Oroz's goal, the game opened up and chances came one after another at both ends. Las Palmas looked for the goal that would give them at least a point, while Osasuna, now yes, found spaces that could allow them to finish the game, such as in a counterattack in which Raúl García crossed his shot too far or, already in extra time, Cilessen saved a shot from Pablo Ibáñez at point-blank range. In the end, three more points for Osasuna, who are managing to turn El Sadar into a fortress.
