The 17-year-old Gunners star was handed his senior debut by Mikel Arteta in injury time against the Cityzens. However, the youngster went into the referee's book a long way before making his first appearance in the league. In the 65th minute of the match, referee Michael Oliver reportedly overheard Lewis-Skelly advising David Raya from the sidelines to go down on the ground to waste time. Oliver immediately approached the Arsenal bench and flashed the yellow card towards the midfielder.

Gunners fans were left amused to see their academy graduate picking up a booking even before his debut.

Taking to X, Aaron West wrote: "Imagine being so arsenal you get booked before even making your full debut. myles lewis-skelly is anointed."

An account named Men in Blazers posted: "Myles-Lewis Skelly has just achieved something remarkable at the tender age of 17: Received his first yellow card before even getting on the field to make his Premier League debut. What a future awaits."

A user named Shutts wrote: "It is absolutely VITAL that this Myles Lewis-Skelly never plays for Arsenal and leaves with more bookings than games. Genuinely the only important thing to come from this match."

A fan with the username inacio/isaac added: "Myles Lewis-Skelly yellow, you’re going down in the Arsenal history books son."

A fan page named Now Arsenal offered an explanation as to why the player was handed the yellow: "Michael Oliver has just booked Myles Lewis-Skelly for telling David Raya to go down injured. WHERE THE FUCK IS THAT IN THE RULES?"

The mega Premier League clash between the two giants lived up to the billing as the thrilling encounter ended in a 2-2 draw with the reigning champions scoring a last-gasp equaliser. Arsenal defended valiantly for the entire second half after Leandro Trossard was sent off minutes before the half-time whistle, however, the Cityzens' persistent attacking eventually paid off.

Pep Guardiola's side will be back in action on Tuesday night as they take on Watford in a Carabao Cup third-round encounter. A day later, Mikel Arteta's men face Bolton.
