Roberto De Zerbi’s side remain unbeaten in the French top flight, with 13 points taken from five fixtures. That return sees them sat level with Monaco and defending champions Paris Saint-Germain in what is shaping up to be a thrilling title race.
Greenwood has been starring for Marseille on the back of his £27 million ($36m) transfer from Manchester United. He has five goals to his name, while his creativity in the final third is being put to good use. He was not on target in a classic clash with Lyon that saw De Zerbi’s side prevail despite being reduced to 10 men inside five minutes.
Marseille appeared to have thrown away two points when Rayan Cherki levelled in the 93rd minute, but Jonathan Rowe was to have the final word as he struck two minutes later and wrapped up a 3-2 win. There were wild celebrations in the dressing room afterwards, with Greenwood seen banging his fist on a table.
Marseille have had a player sent off in their last two games – which is a habit that they need to shake in order to make life a little easier for themselves. They will be back in action next weekend when taking in a trip to Strasbourg.
