Leipzig will look to get their UEFA Champions League campaign up and running as Juventus come to Germany on Matchday 2.
While the Bundesliga side went down 1-2 at Atlético de Madrid in their opening fixture, Juventus returned to the competition with a 3-1 victory against Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven in Turin.
This is the sides' first fixture – and only Leipzig's fifth game against an Italian club.

Leipzig's four previous games against Italian clubs all came in the UEFA Europa League. They beat Napoli on away goals in the 2017/18 round of 32 (3-1 a, 0-2 h) and Atalanta in the quarter-finals in 2021/22 (1-1 h, 2-0 a).
This is Leipzig's seventh campaign in the Champions League, all since 2017/18, and a sixth in a row.
Semi-finalists in 2019/20, the German club have now reached the knockout rounds in four of their last five campaigns, including 2023/24.
Last season Marco Rose's side finished second in Group G behind Manchester City, winning four of their six games and losing both to the holders, before being edged out by eventual champions Real Madrid in the round of16 (0-1 h, 1-1 a).
Leipzig have lost two of their last four home European matches – as many as in their previous ten games in their own stadium (W4 D4).
This is only Leipzig's eighth season of European football. They became the first club to make their continental debut in the Champions League group stage in September 2017.
In addition to reaching the last four of the Champions League in 2020, losing 3-0 in a one-off tie against Paris Saint-Germain, Leipzig were also Europa League semi-finalists in 2021/22.
Rose's charges were fourth in the Bundesliga in 2023/24, Leipzig's sixth successive top-four finish and a sixth in seven years since being promoted to the German top flight for the first time in 2016.

Juventus have won their last four games against German opponents, most recently beating Freiburg 1-0 at home and 2-0 away in the 2022/23 Europa League round of 16.
A 4-2 extra-time loss at Bayern München in the 2015/16 Champions League round of 16 second leg is Juve's only defeat in their last ten games against German opponents, home and away (W6 D3).
Juve have won their last two matches away to Bundesliga clubs, and three of the last five (D1 L1).
Juventus are making their 24th appearance in the Champions League proper – an Italian record, three more than AC Milan.
The Bianconeri returned to the competition on Matchday 1 having missed out in 2023/24. The previous season was their 11th consecutive Champions League campaign, and the first time they missed out on the round of 16 since 2013/14 as Juve finished behind Benfica and Paris Saint-Germain in their section.
Juve have lost their last three away Champions League matches, conceding eight goals.
The Turin team went on to win three Europa League ties in 2022/23 before losing 3-2 on aggregate to eventual champions Sevilla in the semi-finals.
Juventus did not feature in UEFA competition in 2023/24 for the first time since 2011/12.
Champions of Europe in 1985 and 1996, Juve have also lost seven European Cup finals including five in the Champions League era, in 1997, 1998, 2003, 2015 and 2017 – more than any other club.
Having won a record nine successive Serie A titles between 2012 and 2020, Juve finished third in 2023/24 – their highest final placing since being crowned champions in 2019/20.
Massimiliano Allegri left Juventus in May after three years in charge – he had also coached the club between 2014 and 2019, leading them to the Champions League finals in 2015 and 2017 – to be replaced by Thiago Motta.

Leipzig are now unbeaten in 16 Bundesliga games since the end of February, surpassing the club record set in 2018/19.

On Saturday a Dušan Vlahović double helped Juve to a 3-0 victory at Genoa.
The Bianconeri have not conceded in their first six Serie A games, their run of 540 minutes without conceding a new record from the start of the season in the three points for a win era.
Juventus drew 0-0 at home to Napoli on 21 September – their third successive goalless draw in Serie A. It was the fifth time they had drawn 0-0 in three top-flight games in a row and the first since 1992.
Francisco Conceição came on to score on Saturday having not played since suffering a thigh injury in early September.
Timothy Weah suffered an ankle injury in training on 26 September and missed the weekend win.
Arkadiusz Milik is yet to play this season after suffering a knee injury with Poland in June.
On 21 September defender Danilo extended his contract until 2025.
