The Spanish side suffered a 3-2 loss at home to Feyenoord in the competition on Wednesday. After taking the lead in the game, Girona midfielder Yangel Herrera put the ball in his own net to give Feyenoord an equaliser. Then, defender Ladislav Krejci found his own net to give Feyenoord the win after Donny van de Beek had made it 2-2.

Having lost to Paris Saint-Germain because of a late own goal in their first Champions League match, Girona now have three overall this season. That matches the record for most own goals in a campaign that was previously set by Fenerbahce in 2007-08, Opta says.

Shortly after Feyenoord took a 2-1 lead in the tie, the Dutch side were given a penalty, but Ayase Ueda saw his effort saved. In the second half, Girona had a penalty of their own saved, making the clash in Spain the first in Champions League history to have two own goals and two missed penalties.

Girona have lost their first two matches of the new Champions League season and will hope to pick up a first win when they take on Slovan Bratislava on October 22.
