It's been a rough few weeks for Real Madrid, with a lot of key players sidelined due to injuries. Dani Carvajal was stretchered off with a serious knee injury, and Vinicius was forced off.It was a bittersweet night for Real Madrid in their win over Villarreal, with Vinicius and Dani Carvajal injured.
Vinicius was helped off the pitch with his shoulder in a sling, while Carvajal was stretchered off to the sidelines, visibly upset. The team's hard-earned 2-0 win over Villarreal was unfortunately overshadowed by injuries that left fans less than happy.
Vinicius and Carvajal both picked up injuries in Real Madrid's 2-0 win over Villarreal on Saturday evening. The Brazilian winger left the pitch clutching his shoulder shortly after scoring a brilliant goal to double Real Madrid's lead. Carvajal was then stretchered off with a knee injury and in tears.
Carvajal's injury led to some pretty emotional scenes inside the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. The right-back let out a scream as he fell to the ground, lying on the turf, hiding his tears with his shirt. The medical staff arrived and took him off the field on a stretcher.
Carlo Ancelotti is also concerned about Vinicius' injury. The Brazilian had scored a fantastic long-range goal to make it 2-0, but the game was stopped early because of a shoulder injury.
Both players were recently called up to the national team, and Real Madrid is waiting for news and to evaluate them. But shortly after the game, Carvajal himself confirmed on social media that he had suffered a serious cruciate ligament injury, which requires further confirmation and surgery. It looks like he'll be out for several months. Right now, the only player who can play right-back is Vazquez. Otherwise, the other players in central defence will have to play as guest players.
Real Madrid's next game is against Celta Vigo on 19 October.
