Baldock, who now plays for Panathinaikos, was reportedly found dead at his home in the south of Athens on Wednesday. He was 31. Sheffield United, his former club, have posted a lengthy tribute to their former star.
The Blades wrote on X: "Sheffield United Football Club is shocked and extremely saddened to learn of the passing of former player, George Baldock.
"The defender left the club in the summer after seven years at Bramall Lane and was extremely popular with supporters, staff and team-mates who pulled on a red and white shirt alongside him.

According to various reports, Baldock was found in the swimming pool of his Greek villa. His wife had been unable to contact him and alerted the owner of the villa.
