World Cup Qualifying - Asia | Third Round

Palestine vs Kuwait
Match preview
In June 2024, Palestine made history by reaching the third round of FIFA World Cup qualifiers for the first time. They advanced from the second round after finishing second in a group consisting of Australia, Lebanon, and Bangladesh.
Palestine have found the third round a real challenge, playing against teams like South Korea and Iraq. They haven't had much luck in their first three matches, so it's looking unlikely that they'll make it to the World Cup for the first time.
Makram Daboub's team had a good start in Group B, earning a point against South Korea. However, the Lions of Canaan have lost their next two games, 3-1 to Jordan and 1-0 to Iraq.
That means Palestine is still looking for a first win in the third round of the AFC FIFA World Cup qualifiers. They'll be aiming for that when they play Kuwait on Tuesday.
Kuwait also want to qualify for their first-ever FIFA World Cup. They made it to the third round after finishing ahead of India and Afghanistan in Group A of the second round, which was dominated by Qatar.
Juan Antonio Pizzi took over in July 2024 after Rui Bento stepped down, but he hasn't been able to match his predecessor's success. He's gone three games without a win.
Kuwait got off to a good start in the third round with draws against Jordan and Iraq, two of the top three teams in the group. However, they suffered a disappointing 4-0 defeat to Oman in their most recent game.
Kuwait will now be looking to get their first win of the group, to keep their World Cup dreams alive, against a Palestine side they have beaten in two of their last three encounters.
