Match preview

Jordan are aiming to qualify for their first-ever FIFA World Cup tournament, and they've made a positive start in Group B of the third qualifying round.

Jordan made it through to the third round with no trouble at all. They finished at the top of their second-round group, along with Saudi Arabia, with 13 points. But they got the top spot because they had a better goal difference.

They had a disappointing start to the third round, drawing with Kuwait after taking the lead in the 14th minute. However, they bounced back with a comfortable 3-1 win against Palestine.

Jamal Sellami, who has been in charge since June 2024, suffered his first defeat as Jordan manager in their last game. They were bested by South Korea, which resulted in the Chivalrous Ones dropping from second to third in Group B.

Sellami will be eager to rebound with a vital victory against fourth-placed Oman on Tuesday, as Jordan aim to enhance their chances of at least qualifying for the fourth qualifying round with a top-four finish.

Similarly, Oman are also aiming to qualify for their first World Cup tournament. They also headed into the third round after topping their second-round group.

They scored 13 points from four wins, one draw and one loss in that group, finishing ahead of Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia and Chinese Taipei as they secured their place in the third round.

Oman didn't play as well in their first two third-round games, losing 1-0 to Iraq and 3-1 to South Korea. This led to former manager Jaroslav Silhavy being fired.

Rashid Jaber took over before matchday three, and the new boss got some great results from his players. Oman did really well against Kuwait, winning 4-0 and moving up to fourth in the standings.

Jaber will be hoping his team can keep up the good work when they face Jordan on Tuesday. They're aiming to climb the rankings and move closer to a historic first-ever World Cup appearance.
