When Arne Slot took over at Liverpool after Jürgen Klopp left at the end of last season, the Dutchman knew he had a big job to do.
After all, Klopp had already delivered a Champions League, a long-awaited Premier League title, the FA Cup and a couple of League Cups. It's still early days for Slot, but it's fair to say that few could have predicted such a smooth transition at Liverpool.
Since Slot took over, Liverpool has won 11 out of 12 matches, including a 1-0 victory against RB Leipzig on Wednesday in the Champions League.Meanwhile, Slot's Liverpool are the first team in the club's history to win each of their opening six away games of a season.
Liverpool are just the seventh top-flight English side to win each of their opening six away games across all competitions in a season. They're the third team to do so in the Premier League era, after Newcastle in 1994-95 and Manchester City in 2017-18.
They're becoming a winning machine under Slot. They're efficient and know how to get the job done, rather than blowing opponents away.
Will they turn wins into trophies at the business end of the season? One thing is certain: Slot won't let anyone get carried away as he juggles the high-pressure demands of the Premier League and the Champions League.
But with Liverpool at the top of the Premier League and on par with Aston Villa at the top of the Champions League league phase after three games, Slot is making light work of one of the most challenging jobs in football.
Klopp's Liverpool had a great start to the 2018-19 season, winning their opening seven Premier League and Champions League games. They finished one point behind champions Manchester City but then went on to defeat Tottenham in the Champions League final.
Slot's Class of 2024 are the first Liverpool team ever to win 11 of their opening 12 games in a campaign. The only blip since he became head coach was September's 1-0 defeat by Nottingham Forest.
They're off to Arsenal on Sunday (16:30 GMT) on the back of an eight-game winning streak – the first time they've done that since March 2022.
After the Leipzig game, Slot said his players should be proud of achieving the "almost impossible" feat of setting new club records. Like Klopp, Slot knows he'll be judged on the number of trophies he brings to Anfield, not records.
