DeAndre Hopkins was dealt weeks before the 2024 NFL trade deadline, and ended up in a much-improved situation. The former Titans wide receiver goes from 1-5 with Tennessee to a shot at his first Super Bowl ring with the 6-0 Chiefs.

Hopkins, 32, is the latest veteran to come to Kansas City, which has battled injury issues in Patrick Mahomes' receiving corps all season. Meanwhile, Tennessee has struggled to pass the ball well with Will Levis and Mason Rudolph under center in a new offense. Hopkins wasn't enough to fully solve those struggles, which led to him being shipped out of town.

Here's breaking down how both teams did in making the deal:

DeAndre Hopkins trade grades

Chiefs receive:

WR DeAndre Hopkins

Titans receive:

2025 conditional fourth-round draft pick

Chiefs grade: A

The Chiefs give up very little to boost their hurting WR situation. Second-year star Rashee Rice (knee) is on the shelf for the rest of the season, and his veteran replacement, JuJu Smith-Schuster will miss time with a hamstring injury.

After losing Marquise "Hollywood" Brown to a shoulder injury earlier in the season, that left rookie first-round speedster Xavier Worthy as the team's best wideout.

Hopkins is that savvy future Hall of Fame route-runner who can get open for Mahomes. He should also open up the rest of the field, allowing Worthy and tight end Travis Kelce to make plays. The Chiefs have a committee of other options behind Worthy and Kelce, but none of them are able to beat tough coverage the way Hopkins has proven over his excellent career.

Hopkins starred with the Texans and Cardinals before landing with the transitional Titans. After playing with various QBs early in his career, Hopkins was paired up with Deshaun Watson at the end of his Texans tenure and played with Kyler Murray in Arizona. He will pick things up quickly with Mahomes, and should have more motivation how that he's playing for a championship. The trade is a big win-win for both sides.
