Stade de la Meinau

Strasbourg vs Nantes

Match preview

Strasbourg are currently placed 10th in Ligue 1 after winning two, drawing four and losing two of their eight league matches.

Liam Rosenior's side would be higher in the table were it not for their poor away form, having drawn two and lost two of their four league games this term.

Last weekend, Sekou Mara and Pape Daouda Diong both scored as Strasbourg lost 4-2 to the reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes.

While they're still waiting for their first away league win since March, Strasbourg have had better luck at the Stade de la Meinau this season. They've avoided defeat in all four of their top-flight home games (W2, D2).

They've built a strong home form on a solid defence, having only conceded four goals in as many home games. That's a big contrast to the 12 they've shipped on their travels.

Les Bleu et Blanc have done pretty well in recent games against Nantes, with their last six meetings producing three wins, two draws and just one defeat.

Like their opponents, Nantes have taken 10 points from their eight league matches, but they're sitting one place above them due to their small goal difference advantage.

Nantes got off to a good start to the 2024-25 season, playing out a goalless draw with Toulouse before claiming back-to-back wins over Auxerre and Montpellier.

It's been over two months since Antoine Kombouare's team beat Montpellier, and they're still waiting for their third league win. They've drawn three and lost two of their last three Ligue 1 matches.

In their last game against Nice, Nantes had to settle for a draw after Matthis Abline's second goal of the season was cancelled out by Evann Guessand.

That 1-1 draw means that Les Canaris have now failed to win four of the six matches where they have scored first this season.

Nantes will be keen to get back to winning ways on Sunday. They've only won one of their last six head-to-head meetings, but that was in their most recent away game against Strasbourg in October 2023. Marcus Coco and Samuel Moutoussamy found the net in a 2-1 win.
