After making NBA history in his debut on opening night, Lakers rookie Bronny James has not been in his team's rotation.
While James is expected to be assigned to the NBA G League's South Bay Lakers in the coming weeks, he remains with his NBA team during a five-game road trip in which he could get another taste of action on the floor, beginning with a stop in Cleveland to face the Cavaliers.
Is Bronny James playing tonight? Here is why the rookie may see some time on the floor during LA's visit to Northeast Ohio.
Is Bronny James playing tonight?
James is not listed on the injury report for Wednesday's game in Cleveland, the first hurdle for him to play in the game.
After Bronny and LeBron James shared a groundbreaking moment by sharing the floor in Los Angeles, the two have an opportunity to do so again in Cleveland. Both LeBron and Bronny were born in nearby Akron, Ohio and Bronny spent many of his formative years watching his father play in the same building they could play next to one another as teammates.
There is a high likelihood that Bronny will see some time on the floor Wednesday, per Lakers insider Anthony Irwin.
Much like on opening night, Bronny's playing would not necessarily require an earth-shattering change to head coach JJ Redick's rotation. Against the Timberwolves, the father-son duo entered the game together late in the first half and shared the floor for less than three minutes.
While Bronny was a minus-five during his time on the court, the Lakers won the game by seven points and the moment did not get in the way of winning. The Cavaliers have stormed out as one of the league's top teams in 2024-25, meaning Bronny would likely see limited time in the game, barring a rout of either team.
