Athletic Bilbao's board of directors were sanctioned by UEFA following serious disturbances recorded during Bilbao's visit to Rome's Stadio Olimpico on the first day of the Europa League stage. Many extreme fans have been banned from buying tickets at away games. These extreme fans, many of whom are members of Bilbao, have been expelled from the club, and UEFA has also fined Athletic Bilbao 30,000 euros.
