The 76ers have had a brutal start to the 2024 season. They are just 1-6 in their first seven games and have been riddled with injuries to Paul George and Joel Embiid, as well as a suspension for the latter.

Philadelphia hasn't seen the win column much, but that doesn't mean it is all bad news for the team. Point guard Tyrese Maxey has been putting the team on his back, waiting for his teammates to heal up. Maxey has averaged 27.6 points, 3.9 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game.

Unfortunately, Maxey has now been bitten by the injury bug, picking up a hamstring injury.

Here is how long the 76ers guard is expected to be out.

What is Tyrese Maxey's injury?

Maxey is dealing with a right hamstring injury.

Maxey suffered the injury in Philadelphia's loss to the LA Clippers on Nov. 6. He logged 31 minutes in the game, finishing with 12 points on 5-for-13 shooting.

Maxey had been healthy prior to the injury, appearing in each of Philadelphia's first seven games.

For now, the initial estimate is that Maxey will miss multiple weeks due to the injury. There is hope it is only a couple of weeks, but this estimate could be extended after more evaluation.

The 76ers are said to be taking a careful approach with Maxey's injury. Maxey has typically wanted to play through injury, Charania noted.

"He will need to take his time," Charania said. "This is a soft tissue injury. The 76ers are going to take it very, very seriously ... they will make sure that he's going to be 100 percent when he comes back to the floor."
