The Atlanta Braves are coming off of a highly disappointing 2024 season. The Braves had World Series aspirations yet were eliminated in the National League Wild Card for the third straight year. This time, they lost at the hands of the San Diego Padres.
One of the failures for the Braves was their inconsistency in hitting for power. Without Ronald Acuna Jr., Atlanta was left without much depth in the power department. Marcell Ozuna led the team with 39 home runs, followed by Matt Olson with 29. No one else had more than 17 round-trippers on the year.
The All-Star Acuna is not slated to return until midway through the 2025 season, leaving a hole in the outfield.
But that issue may be solved through free agency. It has been reported that the Braves are one of the potential suitors for Teoscar Hernandez, per Newsweek.
Hernandez is coming off one of the best seasons of his career. He hit a career-high 33 home runs and tied a career-high with 12 stolen bases. The former Los Angeles Dodgers slugger also won his first Home Run Derby crown along the way.
The 32-year-old outfielder is expected to earn somewhere in the neighborhood of $70 million over three years in free agency, according to Spotrac.
The Braves are likely to lose Adam Duvall through free agency, and Hernandez would make a perfect fit.
