Match preview
Getafe have won one, drawn seven and lost four of their 12 league games this term, picking up a total of 10 points to sit 16th in the La Liga table, just one point above the relegation zone.
Their only win of the campaign came at home to Alaves on 28 September, after which they shared points with Osasuna, Villarreal and Valencia in three successive matches before losing to Celta last time out.
Jose Bordalas' side have been solid defensively this season, conceding just 10 goals, the third-best record in the division, but they have struggled at the other end, scoring just eight goals, the worst attacking record in the league.
The Deep Blue Ones have been the draw specialists in the Spanish top flight this term, but there hasn't been a stalemate between these two sides since December 2018, with each of the last five encounters producing a winner.
Getafe recorded a 1-0 win in the corresponding fixture in 2023-24, and will be looking to make it four home league wins in a row against Girona when the two sides meet this weekend.
Girona, as mentioned, were thrashed 4-0 by PSV in the Champions League on Tuesday, a result that left them 29th in the standings with just three points from their four games in the competition this season.
The White and Reds enjoyed a historic season in 2023-24, finishing third and qualifying for the league phase of the Champions League, but they have struggled in the current campaign.
Michel's men have won four, drawn three and lost five of their 12 league games this term, leaving them in 12th place, six points behind fourth-placed Villarreal, who have a game in hand.
Girona were involved in a seven-goal thriller against Leganes in their last top-flight outing, their third home win of the campaign, but have only won once on the road in La Liga this term.
Getafe, on the other hand, are unbeaten in front of their own fans, conceding just three times in the process, underlining the enormity of the task facing Girona in this weekend's intriguing clash in the Spanish capital.

Team News
Getafe will be without the services of Djene Dakonam due to a hamstring problem, while Bertug Yildirim and Borja Mayoral both face late fitness tests for the home side this weekend.
The capital club will also be without the services of Juan Berrocal, who is serving a one-match ban following his red card after coming off the bench against Celta.
If both Yildirim and Mayoral are unavailable, Christantus Uche will continue as a centre-forward, with Chelsea linked with a move for the 21-year-old next year.
Girona are without Arnaut Danjuma, Gabriel Misehouy, Alejandro Frances, Abel Ruiz, Yaser Asprilla, Jhon Solis, Portu, Viktor Tsygankov, Ricard Artero and Ivan Martin through injury.
That leaves head coach Michel with few options when it comes to making changes, and the absence of a number of attacking options could mean another place in the XI for Donny van de Beek.
Arnau Martinez was sent off against PSV in the Champions League, but his suspension only applies to European matches, so the Spaniard should be back in a full-back role this weekend.
Possible starting lineups
