New England Patriots rookie quarterback Drake Maye has been impressive through the first six games (five starts) of his NFL career.
In those contests, he's completed 64.7% of his passes for 954 yards, seven touchdowns and five interceptions with an 84.1 passer rating which, considering his lack of weapons and the lack of talent along the offensive line, is notable.
On Thursday, former NFL coach Jon Gruden New England's third-overall pick over Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams and offered an impeccable assessment of Maye's talent.
“Drake Maye is going to be a superstar," Gruden said during a Thursday Night Football livestream with his new company, Barstool Sports. "Drake Maye is going to be everything you’re looking for. 5 Star. Badass. He's a horse, man.”
That's high praise from a coach who won Super Bowl 37 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and famously ran a quarterback camp with some of the best in the nation. He's seeing everything that Patriots fans are seeing, and that should give a lot of hope for the future.
