Liverpool show great interests in Lyon talent Rayan Cherki

Last week, the DNCG (Direction Nationale du Contrôle de Gestion) handed Olympique Lyonnais a pretty big sanction, which is putting a lot of pressure on the club.

Lyon is now facing the real possibility of being relegated to Ligue 2 unless it can make some major financial improvements. This could mean that the club has to sell some of its best players, such as Rayan Cherki or Malick Fofana, at a lower price during the winter transfer window.

Cherki, who extended his contract with Lyon for two more years in September, gives the club some bargaining power in potential negotiations. However, L'Équipe says he could leave this winter.

While he'd love to play for Real Madrid, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain are also keeping a close eye on him.

Foot Mercato says the France Under-21 international is worth between €30 million and €35 million (£25 million to £29.2 million), with Liverpool currently eyeing Cherki in hopes of bringing the French talent to Anfield.

Liverpool aren't the only ones interested, though. PSG, Newcastle United and Bayer Leverkusen are also said to be keeping an eye on the talented youngster.

The Daily Mail recently reported that Liverpool are considering Cherki as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah, with Lyon reportedly looking to sell to address their financial struggles.
