Bucks predicted to acquire $10 million bucket-getting guard via trade with Nets

The Milwaukee Bucks can use some help with a record of 6-9, placing them outside the group of championship contenders in the East.
Something must be done, and that requires having the right pieces around the duo of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard. In order for that to happen, one question needs to be addressed. What moves can the Bucks make in their current financial state?
The Bucks are 19th in the league in points, as they average 111.3 points. There is a dynamic scorer being mentioned in trade rumors, and Milwaukee could use his services.
Sam Amick of The Athletic mentioned that Brooklyn Nets guard Cam Thomas is widely considered to be available and that the rebuilding club is "open for business."
Brooklyn and their guard failed to reach terms on a contract extension, meaning he will enter the restricted free agent market during the offseason. FanSided backs the idea of the Bucks landing Thomas, as Milwaukee was named one of the five teams ready to make a run at acquiring him.
Thomas is off to a strong start this season. He is averaging a career high in points and recently exploded for 43 points against the New York Knicks. Thomas has an impressive accolade under his belt, as he became the youngest player to score 40-plus points in three consecutive games in 2023.
The young guard can make an impact on both ends of the floor, which the Bucks can use in Khris Middleton's absence. Middleton has yet to play this season due to injury recovery.
The Bucks want to make changes but have little leverage. Coming into the season, they had the fourth-highest payroll in the league at 193.1 million. This puts them over their salary cap by $53 million. Draft picks are also scarce, as they have multiple outgoing picks in the next few seasons.
Thomas to Milwaukee would benefit them and potentially help them climb the Eastern Conference. It comes down to how they will get it done.
