Amorim: I cannot copy Sir Alex, I will be me

New Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has stressed that he "cannot" be Sir Alex Ferguson and must be himself while in charge at Old Trafford.
Amorim will lead United out for the first time against Ipswich on Sunday tasked with changing the fortunes of a side that has undergone their worst start to a Premier League season.
Ferguson famously transformed United from a side that had been without a league title for 26 years to a side that would dominate for the next two decades winning 13 Premier Leagues in a dominant period in English football for the club.
Asked during his press conference whether he'd met the Scot for advice, Amorim admitted he's awaiting the opportunity but must carve out his own history at the club.
"It’s hard to copy someone," he said.
"I have to be me. I’m not the best person here to show the history of Manchester United. It should be the club first.
"This is a club that needs to win, has to win. We have to show that to our players. But it’s a different time.
"I cannot be the same guy that Sir Alex Ferguson was. It’s a different time, I have to have a different approach. But I can also be demanding with a different approach. That is my focus."
Amorim was also asked whether he had a ruthless approach as a manager to which he replied:
"I can be ruthless when I have to be. If you think [for the] team, I will be the nicest guy you have seen.
"If there is someone just thinking of himself, I will be a different person.
"I’m not that kind of guy who wants to show he wants to be the boss. They [the players] will feel it - in the small details - that I can be the smiling one, but when you have a job to do, I will be a different person. They understand that."
