“I’m probably more out than in,” said Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, when asked whether he expects to stay at the club beyond next summer.
The Egyptian is in red-hot form this season and he bagged a game-winning brace against Southampton on Sunday to maintain his side’s title push. However after the game Salah was less decisive when it came to his future. His current deal expires in the summer of 2025, meaning that he could sign a pre-contract agreement with another team as early as January.
“We are almost in December and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay in the club. I’m probably more out than in,” Salah told reporters on Sunday.
“You know I have been in the club for many years. There is no club like this. But in the end it is not in my hands. As I said before, it is December and I haven’t received anything yet about my future.”
Will Mohamed Salah stay at Liverpool?
Whatever the contractual situation, there is clearly no shortage of desire on Salah’s behalf. He’s now in his eighth season at Anfield and remains the key attacking talent, a key bridge from the past in the new Arne Slot era.
“I love the fans. The fans love me. In the end it is not in my hands or the fans’ hands. Let’s wait and see.”
Salah was asked if he was disappointed not to have tied his future to Liverpool by now. He replied: “Of course, yeah. I’m not going to retire soon so I’m just playing, focusing on the season and I’m trying to win the Premier League and hopefully the Champions League as well. I’m disappointed but we will see.”
