Match preview

Hull have a record of three wins, six draws and seven losses from their 16 Championship matches this season, with a total of 16 points, which puts them in 22nd place in the table, only four points above basement side Queens Park Rangers.

The Tigers were in seventh place in the Championship last season, just three points away from the playoffs. But this season has been a struggle, and there are real concerns about the club being relegated.

Tim Walter's team haven't won in the Championship since October, losing five and drawing three of their last eight games. They've also lost their last three games against Oxford United, West Bromwich Albion and Luton.

Hull will finish the month with a match against Middlesbrough, followed by two home games against Blackburn Rovers and Watford at the start of December. They need to find a way to get three points on the board.

The Tigers lost their last two games against Sheffield Wednesday, including a 3-1 defeat when the two sides met in the Championship at the start of this year.

Meanwhile, Sheffield Wednesday drew 1-1 with Cardiff on Saturday. Di'Shon Bernard scored for the Owls after Ollie Tanner put the Welsh team ahead just two minutes in.

Danny Rohl,Sheffield Wednesday manager on August 23, 2024

Danny Rohl's team have won five, drawn four and lost seven of their 16 Championship matches this season, picking up 19 points. That puts them in 15th place in the table, four points above their opponents on Tuesday night.

Sheffield Wednesday have only won one of their last four league games, and they've struggled to score on their travels this season, only netting five times in seven away games.

The Owls came in 20th in the second tier last season, so there's plenty of room for improvement this term. There have been some positive signs in the opening months of the campaign, though.

This contest will represent Sheffield Wednesday's final game of the month, with December opening away to Derby County, before Preston North End and Blackburn Rovers visit Hillsborough in quick succession.

Team News

Hull have a few players out at the moment, with Mohamed Belloumi, Carl Rushworth, Steven Alzate, Liam Millar, Thimothee Lo-Tutala, Andy Smith and Harvey Cartwright all in the treatment room.

No player has scored more than twice for Hull in the Championship this season, which shows the problems they're having. Joao Pedro's two goals have come in eight appearances, so he'll lead the line again for sure.

Xavier Simons has also done well this season, scoring twice in 15 appearances from central midfield. The 21-year-old will be in the Hull XI here too.

Sheffield Wednesday will be without Akin Famewo and Olaf Kobacki on Tuesday, but the visitors are otherwise in a strong position ahead of their clash with Hull City.

Josh Windass has been the team's top goal scorer this season, netting four times, and the 30-year-old will be in the line-up again on Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, Michael Smith is having a strong season, with three goals and four assists to his name. The experienced striker is set to lead the away side's line once again in this contest.
