Warriors predicted to trade $24.9 million rising star to Nets in winter deal

The Brooklyn Nets could be trading for a rising star on the Golden State Warriors before February’s deadline.
On Monday, Bleacher Report’s Greg Swartz linked the Nets to a 22-year-old hyper-athletic wing for Golden State who is on an expiring contract.
That player happens to be Jonathan Kuminga, who the Warriors are widely assumed to be shopping around to the highest bidder.
Could the Nets land Kuminga and other assets by dangling players like Cam Johnson and Dorian Finney-Smith in front of the now De’Anthony Melton-less Warriors? Swartz believes so.
“The Brooklyn Nets should be one of the biggest sellers at the trade deadline, likely prioritizing a top 2025 pick instead of chasing the playoffs,” Swartz said.
“The Nets should be targeting wings with upside while looking to move veterans like Cameron Johnson and Dorian Finney-Smith. Kuminga is perhaps the most intriguing young wing in the NBA who hasn't signed an extension with his current team.”
Kuminga is in the final year of his four-year, $24.9 million deal. The long and athletic forward would fit well within Jordi Fernández’s system and would get plenty of opportunities to bloom, especially if Johnson and Finney-Smith are on their way out the door.
