Match preview
The hosts drew 2-2 with Stuttgart in the Bundesliga on Saturday. They were disappointed by the result, especially since they had taken a 1-0 lead after just six minutes and led 2-1 in the 77th minute. Unfortunately, they conceded an 85th-minute equaliser.
After the game, Werder Bremen boss Ole Werner said he was disappointed but didn't have too many complaints about his players. "The frustrating thing is that we gave them a chance to make it 2-2. "But it's also a sign that we're on the right path that we're frustrated at only managing to take a point off a team like Stuttgart."
The away side have scored 19 goals and conceded 24, making them the top flight's joint eighth-best offensive and joint third-worst defensive team.
Werner's players have been up and down recently, losing twice, drawing once and winning twice in their last five games.
Werder Bremen have gone three home games without a loss, but have only won one of their six games at Weserstadion this season.
Darmstadt will be hoping to make it through to the next round, given their strong form recently. The club has won five and drawn three of their last eight matches.
Manager Florian Kohfeldt only started in September, but he's already got a six-win, four-draw, one-defeat record.
Darmstadt have scored 28 goals in the 2. Bundesliga, making it the league's joint second-best offensive record. However, they've conceded 24, making them the division's seventh-worst defensive team.
Kohfeldt's team haven't lost an away game since 20 September. They've won four and drawn one since then.
The visitors have won four and lost two of their last six games in the DFB-Pokal, with at least three goals in each match.

Team News
Werder Bremen don't have too many players out with injuries, but wing-back Felix Agu and centre-back Marco Friedl won't be back until late December.
The hosts could have Julian Malatini, Milos Veljkovic and Anthony Jung in the middle of defence, while Mitchell Weiser and Derrick Kohn might be on the sides.
It looks like striker Keke Topp will be out until February 2025, so we'll probably see Werner go with Marvin Ducksch, Marco Grull and Romano Schmid up front.
The visitors will be without defenders Christoph Zimmermann and Matthias Bader, while midfielders Fabian Holland and Paul Will have also been ruled out.
Darmstadt could line up with lopez, Phil Neumann, Marcel Halstenberg and Bartlomiej Wdowik in defence, with a double pivot of Max Christiansen and Enzo Leopold.
