Telling stat reveals just how good Jared McCain has been for the 76ers

Philadelphia 76ers hotshot rookie Jared McCain only continues to impress.
McCain has done nothing but exceed expectations since he first arrived in Philadelphia, and he hasn’t slowed down at all. In 20 games, he’s averaged 16.5 points while shooting 46.8% and 38.3% from three.
He’s left such an immediate and strong impression that Sixers fans questioned why Nick Nurse kept him on the bench during their win over the Charlotte Hornets a few nights back.
Even more quantitative data further proves that McCain is the real deal. Sixers Stats revealed that McCain has done something only two other NBA players have ever done their rookie years.
“(McCain) has tallied 329 points, 46 threes, and 51 assists, becoming the third rookie in NBA history to tally such numbers within their first 20 outings. He joins (Damian Lillard) (2012) and (Luka Doncic) (2018)," the post stated.
This statistic matters because Lillard and Doncic won Rookie of the Year in those seasons and became two of the best players their respective franchises have ever had.
Even if this season goes wrong for the Sixers, McCain’s play is worth the trouble
The Sixers haven’t had an individual rookie performance this electric since Ben Simmons. While that may sound like a bad omen, the stat mentioned above is a good one for what may come.
It’s been no secret that the Sixers are not doing as well as they would have hoped. At 5-15, they are the second-worst team in the Eastern Conference.
McCain has been the number one reason why, despite all of that, this season has been somewhat tolerable. Even if things don’t improve from here, the Sixers can sleep easy knowing they may have drafted their next franchise player.
In a season where everything has gone wrong, one thing has gone tremendously and undeniably right, and it could get even better from here.
