Injury Updates for Manchester United vs Nottingham Forest
FlashFootball 2024/12/07 05:48
Manchester United are looking to bounce back from their first defeat of the Ruben Amorim era when they host Nottingham Forest on Saturday in the Premier League.
The Red Devils were beaten by Arsenal's impressive set-piece routines on Wednesday evening, losing 2-0 in north London. After three games, Amorim had drawn one and won two in his first stint as Man Utd manager. This was his first loss since arriving in England.
Man Utd are still in the bottom half of the table as they welcome the surprise over-performers Forest to Old Trafford. They've only won five of their first 14 Premier League matches, with one of those wins coming in a 4-0 thrashing of Everton last weekend.
Forest's amazing start to the season has slowed down recently. They've had a tough run of games, losing to Newcastle, Arsenal and Manchester City in three of their last four matches. It won't be easy for them at Old Trafford, as they lost a two-goal lead in a 3-2 defeat here last season.
Man Utd vs Nottingham Forest H2H Record (Last Five Games)
Man Utd: 4 wins
Nottingham Forest: 1 win
Draws: 0
Last meeting: Nottingham Forest 0-1 Man Utd (28 February 2024) - FA Cup
It looks like Man Utd are getting over their injuries just in time for a crucial period for Amorim's side. Leny Yoro made his first competitive appearance for the Red Devils against Arsenal from the bench, which means that only Jonny Evans, Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw are missing for the Manchester club this weekend.
Lisandro Martínez and Kobbie Mainoo were absent from the midweek defeat at the Emirates Stadium, having served one-game suspensions. They've both picked up five yellow cards this season in the Premier League, but they'll be back in the line-up against Forest.
Amorim is still trying to figure out his best starting XI, so there's a chance he'll make some changes from Wednesday's defeat. Marcus Rashford, Amad Diallo and Joshua Zirkzee could all be in the starting XI, having only been used as substitutes in the capital.
Fortunately for Forest, injuries have been relatively minor this season, although they remain without two key central midfielders. Danilo and Ibrahim Sangare are still out with long-term injuries, even though the former is back in training after breaking his ankle on the opening day of the season.
It's unlikely that Espirito Santo will make any major changes to the side that lost in Manchester on Wednesday, when they were beaten by the current Premier League champions.
Anthony Elanga is likely to play against the club he left in 2023, and it seems there won't be any changes to the usual back four that has been so solid for Forest this season.
